Website: Visit (opens in a new window)Katherine Campbell received a Wingate Scholarship in 1996 for research on her PhD thesis: “Learning to Play Scots Fiddle: An Adult Learning Perspective” (University of Edinburgh, 1999). Dr Campbell was an AHRB Research Fellow in the Creative and Performing Arts at the School of Scottish Studies, University of Edinburgh (2000-2002), and a British Academy Research Fellow at the Elphinstone Institute, University of Aberdeen (2003). She is currently Lecturer in Ethnomusicology at the department of Celtic and Scottish Studies, University of Edinburgh, and is general editor of the Scottish Tradition Series (published by Greentrax Recordings Ltd). Her output includes The Fiddle in Scottish Culture//: Aspects of the Tradition, The Fiddle Tradition of North-East Scotland The Greig-Duncan Folk Song Collection, vol. 8 (Patrick Shuldham-Shaw, Emily B. Lyle and Katherine Campbell eds, 2002), Traditional Scottish Songs and Music (co-authored with Ewan McVicar, 2001), and Burns and Scottish Fiddle Tradition (with Emily Lyle, 2000).
