The scholarship enabled me to carry out post-doctoral research into the development of (narrative) writing skills. I began the research at the Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate in 2000 and continued with it at the School of Education, University of Reading from 2001 - 2003. The results of the study were presented in a number of publications and conference presentations. I am now working at the School of Education, University of the West Indies as a Lecturer in Language Arts and Literacy Studies where I continue to carry out research into the development of literacy.
