I just wanted to say that the Wingate Scholarship I received in 2002/3 has had an immense impact on my career. I was able to finish my thesis on Robert Louis Stevenson's essays at Birkbeck College and have subsequently published a number of book chapters and articles as a result. My examiners recommended that I revise it and submit it for consideration as a monograph with CUP.
Unfortunately my son died shortly after this so I am only now getting down to the task, but I hope to complete this soon. My publications can be found on my personal page of the University of Plymouth website. I will also use my research to inform the new MA English: Literature, Culture and Modernity which we are running next academic year and for which I am the programme manager. So all in all I hope that the trustees think that their money was wisely spent!
